이사야 선지자는 그리스도 예수를 '기묘자'로 모든 놀라운 것들이 그로부터 흘러나온다고 말씀했습니다. 시편에는 'wonder' 혹은 'wonderful' 이라는 단어가 32회 나옵니다. 본문에는 하나님의 말씀에 대한 놀라움과 그에 대한 순종이 함께 나옵니다.
시인은 하나님의 말씀이 왜 놀라운지에 대해 다음의 7가지로 말합니다.

1. 주의 말씀은 우둔한 사람들을 깨닫게 한다
성경을 읽으면 생명에 빛이 비칩니다. 성경은 눈을 열어 예수님을 보게 하고, 마음을 열어 하나님의 뜻을 깨닫게 합니다.

2. 성경에서 하나님의 사랑을 발견할 수 있다
성도에게 요구되는 것은 의, 동정, 선하다고 인정되는 것이 아니라 죄로 인해 버려진 상태에 있는 우리를 구원해 주시는 하나님의 사랑입니다. 시인은 성경에서 하나님의 사랑을 찾았습니다. 죄인을 향한 하나님의 사랑은 모든 것 중에 가장 놀라운 것입니다.

3. 인생의 방향을 제시해 준다
성경은 수많은 신앙의 선인들의 발자국을 통해 방향을 제시하고 죄를 이긴 승리의 길과 구원의 길을 제시해 줍니다.

4. 하나님의 말씀 안에 하나님이 계신다
예수님은‘누구든지 나를 본 자는 아버지를 보았고’라고 말씀하십니다. 우리는 성경에서 예수님을 보고, 예수님을 통해서 하나님을 만날 수 있습니다.

5. 하나님의 말씀은 의롭다
성경은 하나님 성품의 거울입니다. 그러므로 의롭게 되기를 원하는 사람마다 성경을 배워야 할 것입니다

6. 하나님의 말씀은 신뢰할 수 있다
참 의가 무엇인지 성경을 통해 가르치시는 하나님은 믿을 만한 분이며 그의 약속은 반드시 지켜집니다.

7. 하나님의 말씀은 진리이다
하나님은 거짓말하지 않으시며 식언치 않으십니다. 하나님은 진리이시고, 그러므로 그가 하신 말씀은 믿을 만합니다.

기이하고 놀라운 하나님의 말씀을 듣고, 읽고, 배우므로 그의 계명에 순종하고 죄를 떠나 거룩한 삶을 사는 저와 여러분이 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 간절히 소원합니다.

God's Wonderful Word
(Psalm 119:129-144)

The prophet Isaiah calls Jesus Christ a Wonderful Counselor and says that all wonderful things flow out from Him. The words 'wonder' or 'wonderful' are mentioned 32 times in this Psalm. The psalm describes his 'wonder' for God's word in connection to 'obedience.' The psalmist tells us seven ways that God's word is wonderful.

1. God's word gives understanding to the simple
Whenever we read the Bible, the light of life shines upon us.
The Bible opens our eyes to see Jesus Christ, and opens our minds to understand the meaning of God.

2. We can find God's love in the Bible
The requirement for Christians is not to be righteous, have sympathy, or recognize goodness, but to receive God's love which saves us from our sins.
The psalmist found God's love in the Bible. God's love for sinners is the most wonderful love of all.

3. The Bible gives us direction in life
The Bible gives us direction according to the footsteps of many faithful predecessors and directs us in the victorious path that defeated sin and gave us eternal life.

4. God is in His word
Jesus says, "Whoever sees me sees my father." We can meet Jesus Christ in the Bible, and we can meet God through him.

5. God's word is righteous
The Bible is a mirror of God's character. Therefore whoever wants to be righteous can learn by reading the Bible.

6. God's word is trustworthy
God teaches what real righteousness is in the Bible: He is trustworthy, so He will keep His promise at all costs.

7. God's word is truth
God never tells a lie or breaks His promise. God's word is trustworthy because His word is true.
