시인은 자신의 헌신이 자기 의가 되지 못함에도 불구하고 주의 말씀에 대한 순종을 거듭 주장합니다. 본문의 175절은 웨스트민스터 소요리 문답서의 ‘인간의 제일 되는 목적은 하나님을 영화롭게 하고 그를 영원토록 즐거워하는 것이니라’는 말씀을 연상케 합니다.

1. 의인이고 죄인이다.
시인은 자신을 ‘잃어버린 양’이라고 했습니다. 원수들에게 에워싸였고 하나님의 돌보심을 필요로 한다는 의미입니다. 본문에서 시인이하고자 하는 말은 자신이 하나님의 은혜에서 떠나있다는 것입니다.마틴 루터는 176절을 두고 매우 감정적이고 눈물이 가득한 구절이라고 했습니다. 그러므로 우리는 잃어버린 양이 되지 않도록 참목자 되신 예수 그리스도에 의해 찾아지도록 기도해야 합니다.

2. 시인의 슬픈 처지
다윗은 시편 23:1에서 ‘여호와는 나의 목자시니 내가 부족함이 없으리로다’고했습니다. 쉴 곳이 있고, 생명이 있고, 인도, 안전, 위로, 보급이 있다는 것입니다. 대조적으로 시인은 하나님이 자기 목자가 아닐 경우 자신에게 5가지 영역에서 부족함이 있다고 말합니다.
① 깨달음
② 구원
③ 하나님께 바르게 예배할 능력
④ 정직한 삶을 살 수 있는 힘
⑤끝까지 굴하지 않는 힘

결론을 말씀드립니다.
시인은 자신을 잃은 양으로 묘사하며 이해, 구원, 바른 예배, 정직한 삶, 견인이필요하다고 고백했지만 자력으로는 하나님을 찾을 수 없습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그는 하나님의 종입니다. 가난하고 연약하며 죄가 있어도, 심지어 종으로 합당하지 못해도 그는 여전히 하나님의 종인 것입니다. 하나님은 우리가 하나님의 계명을 잘 지킬 수 없어도 우리를 잊지 않으시고 지키시며 은혜와 권능으로 보호하십니다.연약하고 죄 많고, 우리들처럼 자신을 도울 수 없는 사람들을 위해 목자는 무슨일을 합니까? 양을 잃어버렸을 때 목자는 찾을 때까지 계속 헤매고 다닙니다(눅15:3-7). 목자에게서 잃은 바 된 양은 전혀 아무 것도 할 수 없습니다. 그러나 예수그리스도 안에 있는 우리는 바울 사도의 말처럼 내게 능력 주시는 자 안에서 내가모든 것을 할 수 있습니다.날마다 주님의 품 안에서 주님의 계명을 지키며 주님을 찬양하는 신실한 하나님의 백성들이 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 간절히 소원합니다.

Straying like a lost sheep
(Psalm 119:169-176)

Although the psalmist doesn't consider himself righteous through all his devotion to God's law, he repeatedly insists on obeying God's word. The psalmist wants to obey, so that he might live to bring praise to God. V. 175 reminds us of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, which states that "man's chief purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever."

1. Both justified and sinner
The psalmist says that he himself was a lost sheep. The fact that he is surrounded by his enemies means that "he needs God's help."
In these verses, he says is that he is lost outside of God's grace.
Martin Luther explained that v. 176 was an emotional phrase, full of tears.
The psalmist cries out, because he does not want to remain lost. We should pray that we will be sought out by the real shepherd, Jesus Christ.

2. The psalmist's sorrowful situation
King David said in Psalm 23:1, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want." This meant that the Lord would provide a place to rest, a place of life, guidance, security, solace, and supply. However, in this passage, the psalmist says that he will be lacking in five domains, if God will not be his shepherd.
(1) understanding
(2) salvation
(3) the ability to worship God rightly
(4) the power to live an honest life
(5) the power not to yield at the end

Conclusion
The psalmist describes himself as a lost sheep, and confesses that he needs understanding, salvation, right worship, and an honest life. Although he cannot seek God on his own, he is nevertheless a servant unto the Lord.
Although he is weak, sinful, and even unsuitable as a servant, God is still able to use him. Even though we cannot keep His commands, God never forgets us, but keeps us and protects us by His grace.
What does a shepherd do with sheep who are weak, sinful, and needy like us? When a shepherd loses a sheep, he goes after it until he finds it (Luke 15:3-7). Just as a lost sheep cannot do anything apart from the shepherd, all of us in Jesus Christ are only able to do anything through the Lord who gives us strength. By keeping the Lord's commands and praising Him in His embrace each day, I earnestly pray that all of you will become a faithful people of God in the name of Jesus Christ.
